Benefits of the National Residence Card
With a National Residence Card, you can work anywhere within Hungary. You no longer need to get employer sponsorship to work any hours for a business or yourself. You also don’t need a work permit.
If you want to start your own business, it is easier to do so with the card than with temporary work permits.
Furthermore, you can travel up to 90 days in a 180-day period inside the Schengen Zone without needing a separate visa. This is a hassle-free way to explore up to 29 European countries, including Iceland, Switzerland, and Norway.
Your card also makes you eligible for public healthcare. There are several factors to consider when it comes to healthcare, and not everything is free. However, you may still qualify for access to housing support and family business opportunities.
Moreover, if you want to become a permanent citizen of Hungary, your card time limit counts towards the overall eight-year requirement. Keep in mind that you will also have to fulfil other requirements, including passing a language test.
When to Renew Your Card
Your card is valid for 10 years and can be renewed for an additional 10 years, if needed. This eliminates the need for constant visa renewals.
It is essential to initiate the renewal process at least six months before the card’s expiration date.
The National Residence Card Offers Unique Opportunities
Obtaining a National Residence Card presents a significant opportunity for long-term residency. You can also enjoy other benefits, such as family reunification. If you decide to apply for a card, it is always a good idea to work with an expert. This will enable you to stay on top of the requirements and the broader geopolitical context of your application.
